Pregnancy Massage & Acupressure Therapies

Gain the skills and confidence needed to work with prenatal clients. Learn adjustments needed to positioning, and practice healthy body mechanics as you work on clients in side-lying position and upon pregnancy cushions. Explore the contraindications and indications for pregnancy massage. Discover the most common complaints among pregnancy women, and both massage and Acupressure techniques you can use to address them. Learn Acupressure sequences to address these complaints, and how to integrate Acupressure into your bodywork practice. 8 CE hours. $170

Explore the nervous system from the perspective of Chinese Medicine. A tense nervous system is described as Chi Constraint and felt as tension in the bodymind; a weak nervous system, as Chi Deficiency, and experienced as weakness.  This course opens the door to Aroma Acutouch Therapy, combining the potency of essential oils  used on Acupressure points to restore balance to the nervous system.

 

On Day 1 for Chi Constraint: Learn specific Aroma Acutouch Therapy sequences to address the manifestations of a tense nervous system: shoulder-neck tension, headaches, insomnia, digestive tension, or menstrual tension.

Day 2 for Chi Deficiency: Learn Aroma Acutouch Therapy sequences  to address the manifestations of a weak nervous system: fatigue, low immunity, poor concentration, depression, weak digestion or scanty periods. 

8 CE hours for one day and 16 CE hours for both days. $170 for one day or $310 for both days. Save $30 by enrolling in both days!

Oncology Massage
& Acup​ressure Therapy

Gain the skills and confidence to work effectively with clients who are undergoing cancer treatment. This course covers myths, facts, contraindications and adaptations to massage for cancer patients. Learn about the most common complaints of cancer patients and the research showing how massage can help with these; common side effects of chemotherapy and how to adjust massage to these conditions; and how to adapt massage techniques, pacing, frequency and positioning to maximize client comfort during massage. Discover and integrate into your massage Acupressure points and sequences to address the most common complaints of cancer patients. 8 CE hours NCBTMB Approved. $170

Day 1 (Yang Conditions) and Day 2 (Yin Conditions)

Acupressure is the Chinese healing art of restoring balance to Chi (lifeforce energy) to optimize health. Learn potent points and Acupressure sequences for your clients' most common complaints.

    Day 1: Yang Conditions.  You will learn point locations and functions to address: shoulder and neck tension, headaches, insomnia, stress, menstrual cramps, and hot flashes.  

    Day 2: Yin Conditions. You will learn point locations and functions to address: low backache and sciatica, fatigue, weak immunity,  depressed energy, menstrual irregularity, and anxiety.

    On both days, you will learn Chinese Massage techniques to activate points, and Jin Shin Acupressure, a powerful technique that is gentle on your body but works deeply on your clients. Throughout the class, you will have the opportunity to cultivate self-care by using these Acupressure sequences on yourself, as well as to practice on others.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

Lymphatic Drainage Massage (LDM) is a gentle, rhythmic style of massage that mimics the action of the lymphatic system.  Discover precise massage techniques to open the initial lymphatics and stimulate lymph vessel contraction to reduce accumulated fluid in soft tissues (edema), and to stimulate the immune system.  Learn the anatomy of the lymphatic system, a full lymphatic massage sequence, and contraindications as well as appropriate uses for LDM in your massage practice.

12 CE hours approved by NCBTMB. $250

Table Shiatsu 

Table Shiatsu is a form of Meridian Massage Therapy which you can integrate with other massage modalities to create an East-West healing bodywork blend.  It combines palm, loose fist and finger pressure techniques applied along the Organ Meridian Chi (energy) pathways to regulate Chi, clear tension and nourish the internal organ systems.  Shiatsu includes passive stretching and range-of-motion techniques to open the "gateways" (joints) to allow ease of movement and unrestricted Chi flow. This course includes instruction on the location of the Meridian pathways, and integrates techniques from T'ui Na Chinese Massage. 21 NCBTMB approved CE hours. $420

Do you feel physically drained, sore or in pain after your work day? Do you struggle with repetitive stress to your joints due to your work? This unique approach to healthy body mechanics for bodyworkers is based on the yoga's principles of mindfulness and alignment. 

​

  • Reduce stress on your arms, hands and back by working smarter not harder.

  • Use mindfulness-based practices at the massage table to avoid the repetitive stress injuries common to massage therapists.

  • Work from the center of your weight, and integrate techniques to protect the primary tool of your trade: the hands. 

  • Learn and practice principles of healthy Yoga mechanics at the massage table, and apply them to all the activities involved in performing a massage: standing, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling.

Everyone can benefit from this class. No prior yoga experience required. This class satisfies the 8 hour in-person class involving the  direct application of massage therapy. $170

Cancellation Policy for In-Person Classes in Bellingham and Burlington, WA

If you cancel more than 2 weeks prior to the start date of the course offered in Bellingham or Burlington, you will be refunded the cost of the course minus an administrative fee of $25. If you cancel 2 weeks, or less than 2 weeks, prior to the start of the course, you can transfer your credit to another in-person or online course taught within a year. There are no refunds given for course enrollment cancelled less than 2 weeks prior to the start of the course, or for courses partially completed.
